You belong to me
see the pyramids around the Nile
watch the sunrise from a tropic isle
just remember darling all the while
you belong to me
see the marketplace in old Angier
send me photographs and souvenirs
just remember when a dream appears
you belong to me
and I'll be so alone without you
maybe you'll be lonesome too
fly the ocean in a silver plane
see the jungle when it's wet with rain
just remember till you're home again
you belong to me
oh I'll be so alone without you
maybe you'll be lonesome too
fly the ocean in a silver plane
see the jungle when it's wet with rain
just remember till you're home again
you belong to me

Music vs Love (Part 2)
Playing music is like being in love.
Start by choosing a piece.
Start by choosing a lover.
Browse through the scores, listen to recordings.
Browse through the person, listen to other's opinion.
Choose the genre you prefer.
Choose the type of guys you prefer.
Some pieces you like, keep to aside.
Some guys you like, keep him to a crush list.
Sight-read the piece first.
See if he's leng chai.
Decide on which piece to play.
Decide on which guy to date.
Start to learn the notes.
Start to know the person.
Note by note, then the whole structure.
Bits by bits, then his whole character.
By now, you will know some phrases you like and some you don't.
By now, you will know some of his strengths and weaknesses.
Practice with patience.
Love with patience.
At some point, you will meet difficulties.
At some point, couple will have personality conflict.
Try hard to resolve whatever difficulties, technical or musical.
Try hard to resolve problems, emotionally or mentally.
Understand the music (background, composer, style, etc..)
Understand the person (background, family, education, etc..)
Solve first phase of difficulty.
Solve first phase of arguments.
Going into a higher sense of aesthetics.
Going into a higher sense of thinking.
Aiming to a beautiful melodic line.
Aiming to a beautiful sweet talk.
Keeping a sense of rhythm and pulse.
Keeping a sense of right timing and togetherness.
Add in some surprise chords.
Add in some surprise gifts.
Preparation - tension - resolution.
Preparation - tension - resolution.
Melt with the musical line.
Melt into the person's arm.
Embrace every nuance and breath.
Embrace every touch and connection.
Some people will say, you are not suitable to play this piece.
Some people will say, you are not suitable to be with him.
Caught up with sense of negativity.
Caught up with sense of negativity.
Try hard to feel the music.
Try hard to feel the person.
Definately reach the phase of frustration and intends to give up.
Definately reach the phase of frustration and intends to give up.
After awhile, we forgot what is our fundamental reason to this piece -- love?
After awhile, we forgot what is our fundamental reason to this person -- love?
Forgotten the meaning of love.
Forgotten the meaning of love.
Constantly remind ourselves why we chose this piece.
Constantly remind ourselves why we chose this person.
Grow with the music.
Grow with the person.
Only play with pure understanding and sincere interpretation.
Only love with pure understanding and sincere emotion.
Blend into the music.
Blend into the person.
Trying to go beyond space and sound, big picture.
Trying to go beyond physical love and emotion, mutual understanding.
Music is philosophy.
Love is philosophy.
Performance.
Marriage.
You can only appreciate music when you have been through stages of suffer.
You can only appreciate love when you have been through stages of torture.
Music is a lifetime of learning.
Love is a journey of a lifetime.
Ultimately, 'Passion' is the magic word.
Hence, the conclusion for this is, good musicians are usually good lovers.

Hold me now
Hold me now by Johnny Logan
Don't... don't close your heart to how you feel
Dream, and don't be afraid the dream's not real
Close your eyes, pretend it's just the two of us again
Make believe this moment's here to stay
Touch... touch me the way you used to do
I know tonight could be all I'll have with you
From now on, you'll be with someone else instead of me
So tonight, let's fill this memory
For the last time
Hold me now
Don't cry, don't say a word
Just hold me now
And I will know.
Though we're apart, we'll always be together
Forever in love
What do you say when words are not enough?
Time... time will be kind once we're apart
And your tears... tears will have no place in your heart
I wish I... I could say how much I'll miss you when you're gone
How my love for you will go on and on and
Hold me now
Don't cry, don't say a word
Just hold me now
And try to understand that I hope at last you've found
What you've been searchin' for
And though I won't be there anymore
I will always love you
Hold me now,
Don't cry, don't say a word Just hold me now
And I will know.
Though we're apart, we'll always be together
Forever in love
What do you say when words are not enough?
What can I say
When my words are not enough......

Colored composers
Synaesthesia - a neurologically based phenomenon in which stimulation of oneOn sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway.
One famous example is Messiaen's synaesthesia in which he said caused him to experience colours when he heard or imagined music.
Additionally, someone told me that C major is fluorescent white.
So, I think music has relation with color. Different modes, moods portray variety of color. Well, we describe our mood as 'blue', you can't really see a 'blue mood' but it's a way of illustrating. This works in music too.
As I recall, my previous post had something about color. So now you can see, I love colors! I cannot imagine life without color.
I have a short list of my relation of color to composers. haha. funny me rite? Have a good laugh after you read this :p
Bach - bright sunset orange
Mozart - powdery baby blue with tinge of violet
Tchaikovsky - sweet pink
Beethoven - dark maroon brown
Schubert - Olive green
Handel - turquoise green
Debussy - light bluish grey
Messiaen - dark magenta
Chopin - light cream yellow
I'll think of more to add in.. currently can't think of a lot of composers right now.
Well, this is just for fun :)

Ideal Love 1
What is love?
A question that no one has the answer. (Maybe we should ask professors that teach Love 101) Anyway, let's try to list down what's our criteria of love? Or should we say 'ideal' love? Then probably, we'll know what's the best love for us? Maybe writing down will help.
~ I do not know what I think until I see what I say! ~
So guys out there, here comes a long list of ...
*drum roll......
more drum roll.......
another 2 bars of drum roll........
CHIANGGGGGGG!! *
"Dummies Guide to Aik Hooi's heart" .. muahaha..!!!
Ok. Enough fooling around. Be serious to subject of love.
1) Multiple roles in a relationship
Boy - girl; teacher - student; father - daughter; mother - son; brother - sister; employee - employer; best friends; business partner, music (duet) partner; travel companion; debate opponent, etc...
Multiple roles in relationship is important. (at least for me) This can sustain and holds a relationship more firmly. A stable relationship is like an established tonality, importance of dominant - tonic function, you can proceed to other progressions but dominant - tonic function is highly integrated. (sorry, I don't even understand what am I talking here. Ignore my crap :p ) What I mean is, you can be different roles to support each other's need; and vice versa. It's very disappointing that your partner cannot be your best friend: listen and gossip; share and comfort OR your partner cannot be your teacher, teach and learn; have patience and encourage OR your partner cannot be your parent, guide and advice; nurture and care OR your partner cannot be your debate opponent, discuss and critic; argue and give opinions ...
Understand?
2) Learn from each other
No one is perfect. But, if you can find a person that knows something you don't know, and you can learn from him, or in another way, you know something that he don't, ain't it good to have someone to share knowledge? Conscious or not, there's always something that you can learn from another party. However, for me, the will power in search of knowledge is important too. Don't tell me: "I finish PhD, I'm very clever already, no need to learn anymore" or "I'm older, so I know more than you." Right. Our knowledge is shape by our education and experience. There's no two person that have the same amount of knowledge. Therefore, I hope I can constantly upgrade myself and I'll expect that from my partner oh.
3) Grow together, hand in hand
Growing old is a long process. While in the process, there's a person that walk with you, fall with you, I think growing old will be a great process. In every stage of life, I change. It's like metamorphosis. I know I change (a lot.) But if my partner cannot keep up with my change, left behind while I am already in front. Or if my partner is too far ahead, want my short legs to run and keep up is too tiresome. Both are equally unhealthy. And, from my past experience, I am highly adaptable to new environment, and I change easily. Keeping up to my path is not easy. Finding a partner that can keep the same pace as me (probably the speed of Allegretto?) is crucial to my future. (another supporting reason: you know la, my legs so short, how to keep up with guys that walk in big, fast steps?)
4) Tolerance and understanding
You cannot find an exact piece of jigsaw puzzle or literally right key to your door. I don't think such person exist, except in my own little ideal world of white horse prince. You can choose to be a piece of hard metal mold and hope that your partner can be flexible like melted gold so you can shape her; or you can choose to be a jelly to shape into her mold. Either way, I think won't work (for me.) You won't want to restructure your chemical state into another just to accommodate that person. Then, it's not the original you anymore. In my opinion, I guess being a 'plasticine' to each other is the best. You maintain the original structure, but flexible to be shaped, can mix with each other to be a better creation, or still can stand alone as an individual. That's about tolerance. Understanding to my personality, career, dream is essential. I cannot imagine going out with a guy that don't understand music, or ask me 'Why want to buy Steinway piano? All piano same only what,' or sleep in an orchestral concert" Bye bye. Musicians are people from another world. Either you understand them or you don't. (if you understand means you are from the same category of weirdos.) Tolerance and understanding is the key to a long term relationship.
There are still more to come. Write tmr. sleepy now. zzz...

勇气
To my dearest you
Have courage and faith! big hugs~
Have courage and faith! big hugs~
